Why This Recipe Works
The magic happens during the slow baking process, which allows the ranch seasoning to penetrate deep into the pretzel’s crevices while creating a perfectly crispy exterior. The oil acts as a carrier for the seasonings, ensuring even distribution and helping the flavors adhere to every surface. Regular stirring during baking prevents burning while promoting even browning and flavor development throughout.

How to Make Ranch Pretzels
The hardest part of making these ranch-seasoned pretzels is waiting for them to cook! Here are the recipe steps:
- Make a savory sauce with oil, dry ranch salad dressing mix, dill, and a touch of garlic. This sauce gets mixed together in a bowl. Did I mention this was easy to do?
- Place the pretzels in a large bowl and pour the sauce over them. Give them a good mix. You want to coat the pretzels very well.
- Pour the seasoned pretzels into a baking dish and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
These little tasty treats are very satisfying, and you can not just eat one!
Recipe Variations
Here are some options to add to the pretzels:
- Cheez-It cheese crackers
- Nuts
- Cayenne pepper for a spicy kick
Storage & Reheating Instructions
- Freezing: Can be frozen for up to 3 months in freezer-safe containers or a resealable bag. Thaw at room temperature before serving.
- Room Temperature Storage: Store in airtight containers for up to 2 weeks at room temperature for optimal freshness.
- Humidity Protection: Keep containers sealed tightly to prevent pretzels from becoming stale or losing crispness.
- Refreshing Method: If pretzels lose crispness, spread them on a cookie sheet and warm them in a 200°F oven for 10-15 minutes.

These keep really well. Actually I think they get better the longer they sit. I was in the Navy and a buddy’s grandma would make these and send them out in care packages to us. She would send an entire batch and they wouldn’t last a whole day! Every time I send out a package to a deployed friend I include these and they are always a huge hit. If you’re making these for a party I recommend making them a day ahead, this helps intensify the flavor. Also, I never bake them. I just stir the bowl every 15 minutes for a couple of hours. Even easier.
Has anyone ever tried to swap the Ranch packet with maybe an onion soup packet or maybe a salsa spice packet? And if swap that take out the dill but it might be really good…
