A budget-friendly family favorite with an irresistibly crunchy coating made from seasoned instant potato flakes. It is crispier than shake and bake and twice as delicious!
13-4 poundwhole chickencut into pieces (breasts, thighs, and legs)
cooking spray
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Place the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish and put the dish in the oven until the butter melts.
Combine the potato flakes, black pepper, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, seasoned salt, and steak seasoning in a shallow dish.
Coat each piece of chicken in the potato flake mixture. Lightly spray the coated chicken with cooking spray and then coat it again with the seasoning mix for an extra-crispy finish.
Arrange the chicken pieces in the pan with the melted butter and bake for 30 minutes. Turn the chicken over and bake for another 30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Recipe Tips
For the best results, make sure your chicken pieces are similar in size so they cook evenly. If using different cuts, consider placing the larger pieces (like breasts) around the perimeter of the dish and smaller pieces (like wings) in the center. The butter may seem like a lot, but it's essential for achieving that perfect golden crust, so don't be tempted to reduce the amount.
